Submitting a complete application is an important part of the holistic admissions process. To confirm that your application is complete and eligible, make sure you meet the following requirements:
1. Application for Admission to Undergraduate Study
Submit a complete application including all required supplements as outlined on this page and in the application instructions.
2a. English Language Proficiency
Present valid and official results confirming English language proficiency typically through the following options:
- TOEFL iBT
- IELTS Academic
- English Language Proficiency Test Waiver – Native and near-native speakers are eligible for a waiver. For more information, please read the English Language Proficiency waiver policy. To apply for a waiver, submit an Application for Waivers at admissions.aua.am/apply.
- Internal Assessment for Military – If you are currently serving in the RA army, you are eligible for the Internal Assessment. This assessment will be offered during an extended admission interview where applicants will be assessed on their English level.
Score Validity and Reporting
You must submit official score reports confirming English language proficiency either from the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic exams. For AUA application purposes, the TOEFL iBT/IELTS Academic scores are valid only if your test date was less than two years before the application submission date. You must ensure that official test scores are sent to AUA directly from the testing service, using AUA’s institution codes as noted below:
TOEFL iBT – 4151
IELTS Academic – 40 Baghramyan Ave, Yerevan
2b. Math Proficiency
Present valid and official results confirming math proficiency typically through the following options:
- SAT
- ACT
- Internal Assessment for Military – If you are currently serving in the RA army, you are eligible for may pass the Internal Assessment. This assessment will be offered during an extended admission interview where applicants will be assessed on their math knowledge and skills.
This requirement is optional for Fall 2024 to the English & Communications and Nursing program applicants
Score Validity and Reporting
You must submit official score reports confirming math proficiency directly from the College Board or ACT. For AUA application purposes, these exams are valid only if your test date was less than three years before the application submission date. Make sure to indicate AUA’s institution codes as follows to ensure proper receipt of the score report:
SAT – 7257
ACT – 6982
Math Waiver for Transfer Applicants
If you have taken college or university level math courses, you may be eligible for a math proficiency waiver. To confirm whether we will waive your math proficiency requirement, please email [email protected] with a scan of your university transcript that shows all math courses you have taken along with the course descriptions and syllabi.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: AUA and the Undergraduate Admissions Committee will give preference to applicants who meet English and Math proficiency through standardized tests or are approved for a Waiver. If an applicant is unable to take any of these exams because of their unavailability in his/her country (due to crises situations), we will offer an alternative internal assessment consisting of a thorough interview and an on-the-spot essay. However, if you are admitted to the American University of Armenia through an internal assessment, you risk not qualifying for certain merit-based scholarships and government or other programs that require standardized exams.
3. A scan of the photo and registration pages of your passport (or National ID for Armenian citizens)
4. A photo meeting the online application requirements
5. A scan of the Armenian Social Services Number (for Armenian citizens only)
6. Proof of High School Graduation
Submit proof of high school graduation or equivalent. For our applicants in Armenia, this is typically the attestat. Others include:
- High school diploma
- IB diploma
- AB diploma
- GCSEs (8 subjects passed with grades of C or higher)
- A-levels (3 A level exams with a result of C or higher)
- GED: (the overall score of 660 with a minimum of 145 on each section).
Applicants in their Final Year of High School: If you are in your final year of high school, you must submit your current, official transcript that includes courses taken for each year of your high school education along with the grades received. If admitted, you will then need to submit your official diploma (typically an Attestat for applicants in Armenia) and final transcript to complete your admissions process. This usually happens in July, before the start of your AUA studies.

8. Transfer Applicants
Upload scan(s) of your official transcript(s) for all colleges and universities you have attended to the “Attachments” section of your application. Transcript(s) must include all courses you want to transfer to AUA. You must also upload syllabi for each course you would like to transfer.
